Letters from NYC

Lyrics from a rock song I wrote around 1978 that was performed

by The Pornocrats (1979-1981), my old band in Berkeley, Ca.  We

created our name along with following definition:

“Pornocracy:  A system that’s obscene”

Any corruption of justice by those in authority is pornocratic.

*  This song is about political abuse and corruption at the top, not about those who serve with honor.

Oil War©

Nuclear pollution

Needs a solution

So they’re calling us up again.

Power for the world versus

“Power to the People”

And you know who’s gonna win …

            (chorus)

Oil war in the East

Military action for supplies

Oil war in the East

Mass destruction and loss of lives!

Cars for commuters

Heat for the winters

Fuel for the killing machines;

Time for a cold war

Time for a détente

Time for the end of dreams

            (repeat chorus)

There’s an oil war in the East

Military action for supplies

Oil war in the East

Mass destruction and loss of lives!

(guitar solo backed by sampled sound effects of real tanks, planes, rockets and small arms)

Soldiers on deployment,

Rising unemployment

Tools of the men on the boards

Of the huge corporations

Manipulating nations

And you know they’re keeping the score!

(repeat chorus)
