This is a 19” kris sword I picked up in the Philippines in 1989, from which I made the template for my medium kris.

It is much lighter than the large 27” kalis seka sword, more knife-like and similar to the feel of krisses from Indonesia, which are often even thinner.

My medium kris is lighter than the original, which has a heavy bone and metal handle and a fairly thick steel blade.  I enhanced the guard for more hand protection and to reflect the style of older traditional weapons.  Whereas the original has a choppy feel, the larger guard also helps move the balance point back closer to the hand, quickening the blade.
